RADIATION SAFETY TRAINING

WSU personnel who work with radioactive materials and/or radiation machines are required to complete the radiation safety courses below. ( WAC 246-221-140 , WAC 246-222-030 ). The Radiation Safety Office offers separate courses for radioactive materials safety and radiation machines safety (see below).

This requirement applies to prospective authorized users as well as employees who plan to work directly with radioactive materials or radiation machines.

**NOTE** To obtain personal dosimetry please complete the appropriate packet at the bottom of this page and return it to the Radiation Safety Office at mail stop 1302.

Our training is now on-line.

New Radioactive materials users must complete numbers 1 through 9 and 13 and 14 below, and submit a completed badging application, before receiving dosimetry and starting work with radioactive materials.

All radioactive materials users must also complete Annual Refresher Training, number 15 below, between July 1st and June 30th. Beginning the year after completing initial training.

New Radiation producing machines users must complete numbers 1 through 7 and number 10 below, and submit a completed badging application, before receiving dosimetry and starting work with radiation producing machines.

New Soil moisture gauge users must complete numbers 1 through 7 and number 11 below, and submit a completed badging application,before receiving dosimetry and starting work with soil moisture gauges.

All female radiation workers must read the Prenatal Radiation Exposure information, number 17 below, and acknowledge having read it by checking true on the quiz.
